Black & white classic glamour in the middle of the forest of bowland, we got married at st Michaels church on the duchy of lancasters estate ‘Whitewell’ the beautiful reception venue was adjacent to the little church held in the marquee of the 300 year old manor house hotel ‘The Inn At Whitewell’.
We really wanted the style of the day to be very classic glam! Many weddings these days are shabby chic and vintage tea pots etc which we agree is lovely but I just adore all things glamorous yet chic, we decided on a black and white theme to fit in with that but wanted to keep the black element to a minimum, I didn’t want things to look too ‘themed’ The marquee is white with a black & white tiled dance floor so I was wary of keeping things as classic as possible. All along we wanted to ensure the day was as much fun as possible & that people felt comfortable & that it wasn’t too ‘stuffy’ or formal, to avoid that during our sit down wedding breakfast we had a saxophonist play and afterwards a characteruerist entertain our guests by drawing them, so many weddings have gaps of waiting around which is something we really didn’t want..we wanted the day to flow with lots of laughs and fun. Something we were really certain of was to not leave our guests to go off having photos done just the two of us, it was important to us that we didn’t miss any part of our day or precious time with guests so the photographs were shot around the day as opposed to staged pose/shots leaving our guests behind, getting married at 2pm meant we didn’t have time to waste. we were very fortunate that our photographer Corrado dislikes that also & his style is to photograph around the wedding as it happens so he was perfect for us! The church service element was very important especially to myself being a regular at my own local church, having a religious wedding ceremony meant everything, my own vicar Andrew from back where we live in Bickerstaffe, Ormskirk travelled over with his wife Jo to conduct the ceremony, being friends of ours also they joined us as guests throughout the day which was lovely.
